The fight against insects

Does the fight against insects require the involvement of professionals?

Fighting insects is a painstaking job because they always come back to your home. Professionals can help you get rid of insects permanently or for a longer period of time. If, however, you decide to fight flies or mosquitoes in the house with chemical means such as insect sprays, you should use products that are approved for home use only. Chemical substances can harm children and contaminate food, therefore, before using them, do not forget to read the label in detail and follow the instructions.

What should you pay attention to in the fight against insects?

Insecticides are highly toxic chemicals that you should only use if you really have no other choice. Substances created to fight insects are not good for your health either! Therefore, first try natural remedies like lavender against moths, lemon peel, vinegar or cinnamon against ants, or a fly trap made of water with sweetener. You can successfully protect yourself from flying insects by placing mosquito nets in front of your windows.

Why is the fight against insects necessary?

Most insects reproduce very quickly. It is therefore advisable to act quickly to stop the spread. In addition, the faster you react, the more likely you are to get rid of insects without professional help and without the use of chemicals. The most effective way to prevent numerous insects from entering your home is to install a protective net on the windows or doors of the house and apartment. Not only will you be able to open the windows during the day, but also in the late evening hours you will be able to carelessly enjoy your space without having to turn off the lights.

Dangers from insects

The fight against insectsThe fight against insects In addition to being quite unpleasant to the eye and often very tiring, insects can also be dangerous to health due to the dirty surfaces they usually land on, thus becoming potential carriers of various viruses and diseases. The most dangerous in this case are certainly flies. Flies can carry a multitude of microorganisms on their legs which, if present in large enough numbers, can cause disease. However, along with flies, the favorite landing spots for other insects are food remains, ripe fruit, and unclean surfaces, after which they can easily transmit harmful microorganisms. This information is enough of a signal to take defensive measures that will keep these insects away from your home. If they do find a way to get into your space, you should get rid of them as soon as possible. The average lifespan of a fly is two weeks, but in that period it can hatch as many as 1000 eggs. This points to the fact that keeping one fly in the space for a long time can become a big problem.

Tips for fighting insects

Mosquitoes, flies, hornets, wasps and all kinds of disgusting bugs infest houses and apartments, but luckily there are all-natural ways to keep them out of your home for good. You will definitely need one glass jar with a wide opening, and you will choose the other ingredients according to your needs. Components: 5 drops each of lemon, eucalyptus and citronella essential oils, half a lemon and half a lime cut into slices, 2 sprigs of rosemary, floating candle (small candle in a metal holder). Put all the ingredients in a jar, without mixing, pour water almost to the top, put a candle on top and light it. You can keep this jar on the terrace, on windows and other openings in the house. If citrus scents bother you, try a recipe with lavender and vanilla: Components: 15 drops of lavender essential oil, 3-4 tablespoons of vanilla extract, 3-4 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix the ingredients in a jar or spray bottle and use every day – leave the jar in critical places or spray the air in the rooms two to three times a day. To repel annoying flies, you can use the same trap as for wasps, but there is also a simpler way – fill a jar with water, put a coin in it and put it in a well-lit place. Flies feel threatened by this and will quickly begin to flee your home. You can also use a plastic bag instead of a jar.

Decorate the garden in the fight against insects

Whether you live in a house or an apartment, you can always plant plants that repel these pesky little insects. Lemon balm and lavender are ideal herbs. They have a pleasant smell for humans, but they are very annoying to mosquitoes. Plant plants that repel mosquitoes from the garden and from the balcony. You can also plant basil, sage and mint in the garden, because the smells of these plants repel mosquitoes and are especially toxic to their larvae. You can also make a mixture of these three plants and spray the grass with it.
