Cultivation of the lawn

Advantages of professional lawn care

Lawns are one of the most popular parts of the garden, and for good reason. A neat and beautiful lawn, flat and thick like a golf course, is the dream of most people. It can become a reality if you create the best possible conditions for its growth. Soil location and preparation, grading and seeding techniques are important early care measures until the young lawn is established. But the general picture can be perfect only with regular maintenance. It should be remembered that three things are of decisive importance for the kind of lawn we are aiming for: sunny place, thorough and high-quality lawn treatment and regular care. In order for your lawn to thrive successfully, it is best to hire professional people to manage it. The experts have all the necessary tools and machines as well as the necessary knowledge for processing lawns.

What should be considered when processing the lawn?

If your lawn no longer grows evenly and has more and more weeds, it must be treated with preparations. Moss and unwanted plants dry out after spraying and need to be removed. As a result, the grass can breathe again and is well supplied with water and nutrients. After this lawn treatment is done, the lawn becomes denser and more beautiful.

Why should the lawn be cultivated regularly?

By establishing the lawn, sowing or sodding, we have done only half of the work we need to achieve the goal, which is a beautiful and well-kept lawn. In order to achieve the goal, a lot of effort should be invested, where lawn cultivation is very important. The most important care measures include: mowing, fertilizing, raking and cleaning, watering, filling empty spaces and protection against weeds and pests.

What kind of preparations should be undertaken for lawn cultivation?

Cultivation of the lawnCultivation of the lawn Lawn mowing is one of the most important, and in our country, often the only measure that is understood as lawn treatment. In order to know how often to mow, we must familiarize ourselves with the intensity of grass growth during the year. At the beginning of the growing season (March), the grass grows slowly, in April it grows faster and reaches its maximum in May. At the end of August, it begins to grow more intensively again, only to slow down again in mid-September. Therefore, we have the largest number of mowings from mid-April to mid-May (once to twice a week), and mowing is less frequent in summer and autumn. The last mowing of the year is done at the beginning of November so that the grass does not enter the winter too tall, as this would cause it to rot. The mowing height also depends on the time of year, so we mow at a higher height in the summer when the weather is hot and dry, for the sake of better preservation of moisture in the soil and better root development, and in the spring and autumn, we mow shorter (2.5 – 3.0 cm) in order to As a rule, mowing should not remove more than a third of the leaf surface. Whenever possible, mowing wet grass should be avoided as it does more harm than good. In many cases, the question arises whether to remove the grass clippings. The advice would be that when mowing wet and tall grass, the clippings must be picked up, because otherwise a layer of dry organic debris is created that prevents light, air and water from penetrating into the deeper layers. If the grass is mowed regularly even in dry weather, we can leave the mowed grass mass as we use it as fertilizer.

Which turf treatment is best for my lawn?

First of all, in order to do the proper processing of the lawn, it is very important, as we said, to properly mow the lawn. Raking is also important in lawn cultivation but requires a little effort. During the year, a layer of dead organic matter forms on the surface of the lawn, which suffocates the lawn and consists of cut grass, moss, leaves, twigs, etc. It prevents the penetration of air, nutrients and water to the grass roots. Especially this problem occurs in early spring, at the beginning of the growing season. This waste is collected with rakes, and by applying stronger pressure, it simultaneously splits the piles and promotes surface aeration. In the summer, weed roots are torn with this measure, and in the fall, leaves and twigs are collected.
