Flushing of the central heating system

Does central heating system flushing have to be done by a professional?

Heating pipes can be cleaned in two ways – on the one hand, there is the possibility of chemical cleaning of the pipes, the other option would be to flush the central heating system with a compressor. Dry cleaning can only be done by professionals. The risk of improper use and associated toxic contamination of water is too great. Flushing pipes with a compressor, on the other hand, can also be done by the craftsmen themselves. However, in addition to professional equipment, flushing also requires a lot of manual skills and knowledge in working with water installations. If you want to make sure that the heating pipes are cleaned properly, you should always contact the experts. It is especially desirable to hire an expert when it comes to a radiator with special requirements, such as underfloor heating.

How can I clean the central heating system myself?

Even those who want to clean the central heating system at home cannot avoid professional equipment. In order to effectively clean the heating pipes, a simple hose is not enough, a flushing compressor is needed. If a flush compressor is available (you can find one at specialty or tool stores), the first step is to remove the thermostat and fully open the adjustable valves. Then the flow and return are connected to the radiator. When the flow is connected to the flushing compressor, the return is connected to a hose leading to the drain. Now, one by one, starting from the outermost valve, all the valves are opened, flushed and closed again. The process continues until all areas are flushed and the pipes are cleaned.

Is it useful to flush the central heating system?

Flushing the central heating system is not so widespread and well-known in our area, but it is very useful for maintaining the complete system. As a rule, every 3-5 years you should drain the old water and chemically wash the pipes and elements (radiators, floor pipes) in order to remove all deposits that reduce the required flow of hot water and therefore increase the consumption of energy (gas, wood, oil). Through the water softening process, we isolate the substance that creates limescale in the heat exchanger of the water heating device, thus extending its service life, heating efficiency with less noise during operation. Manufacturers of gas boilers recommend filling the system with softened water below 8dH, otherwise they have the right to void the warranty if the device malfunctions within the warranty period.

The importance of regulating the temperature in a closed space

Flushing of the central heating systemFlushing of the central heating system The climatic conditions of the environment certainly affect our mood and quality of life. We spend most of the day indoors at work, at home and in transport. Therefore, it is desirable that the climatic conditions in the closed space are adapted to our body. The feeling of comfort is achieved when the temperature, humidity and air movement as well as the temperature of the walls are balanced according to the clothing and activity of the person. Man has his own temperature regulation system, which when overloaded gives a feeling of discomfort and discomfort, and can also be the cause of illness. One of the reasons for the introduction of regulation in heating and air conditioning systems is the need to create optimal conditions in the space so that the biological regulation system is not brought to saturation. Another reason is that each of us has a different biological temperature regulation system because the feeling of comfort is a characteristic of humans as individuals.

Change of water temperature in heating bodies depending on the outside temperature

A very effective way of achieving comfort, especially when the building does not have temperature regulation in the rooms, is if the water temperature in the heating bodies changes depending on the outside temperature. The initial data for the design of the heating system are the heat losses of the building, based on the external design temperature. Based on these data, the heating system is dimensioned: boiler power, flow rate, pipe diameter, number of radiator fins, area of u200bu200bheating panels, etc. The term heating curve is introduced as a criterion for changing the temperature in the distribution system in relation to the external temperature. The lower point of this curve is obtained based on the temperature in the room when the heating system is turned off in the summer.
