Restore the facade

When should you restore the facade?

If it”s been more than 10 years since you installed it, it”s time to renew the facade. Facades are used to protect the building with facade paints and plastic plasters from atmospheric precipitation and removal of atmospheric sediment into diffuse pores. The market mainly produces and offers facade dispersion paints, facade paints made of synthetic resins dissolved in organic solvents, and facade paints whose binder is based on silicates. It is very important to know that facade paints and plastic plasters from different manufacturers do not mix. That is, only entire surfaces can be worked with materials from different manufacturers. You can do any repairs under appropriate weather conditions, as weather conditions can affect the quality of the work. You should not do repairs on facades in the following cases when: it is raining or snowing, there is heavy fog and saturated air, strong wind is blowing, the air temperature is below zero or above 30 degrees.

What should be paid attention to when renovating the facade?

Be sure to buy the appropriate mortar at a construction store: For the exterior facade, you need waterproof plaster for exterior facades, as well as waterproof paint, and for the interior facade, neither plaster nor paint must be time-limited.

Why should the facade be renovated?

A well-made facade is one of the main prerequisites for a beautiful and quality life. Living in a house that is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter is not an option nowadays and is simply unimaginable. Wet spaces should also be a thing of the past as modern building standards include thermal insulation of the outer envelope (facade). It is one of the most important elements of thermal protection of the building, which affects the comfort of staying in the mentioned space in many ways. It significantly extends the life of the building, saves thermal energy, and also has a significant aesthetic function.

Facade renovation procedure

Restore the facadeRestore the facade If you need to restore the facade, it is necessary to clean the various applications (consoles, flowers, wreaths, etc.), scrape off various deposits and dust, as well as soldering with a brush. After cleaning, the damaged areas, edges and cornices are repaired with special materials, depending on the substrate on which the dispersion facade paint was applied. As in recent years facades are mostly made of Styrofoam using Styrofoam glue, we recommend using Styrofoam glue for repairs. Styrofoam glue is applied to the damaged areas with a trowel and spatula. Repaired damage should be protected from strong sunlight for several days. How much material will be spent depends on the size of the damage and the wear and tear of the facade. Before applying the dispersion facade paint, it is necessary to apply a primer to the repaired facade parts with a roller, which ensures better absorption of the walls and strengthening of the substrate on which the facade paint is to be applied. After the applied substrate has dried, dispersion facade paint is applied in two coats (layers). The basic color is white, and by tinting you can get shades as desired. You can do the toning yourself with tone pastes or they can do it for you at a paint and varnish store (painters). Our recommendation is to tint the facade color with shades of lower intensity (weaker tones).

When you want to restore the facade, depending on the condition of the facade, you will need to get different processing tools: A pressure washer is best for thorough cleaning. If you have problems with moisture, you can pre-treat the surface with a moisture protection agent. If the facade is cracked, first paint the facade primer, let it dry, and then repair the cracks with crack filler. Finally, you can paint the wall in the desired color for a perfect facade look.

How to choose a color for facade renovation?

When you decide on the insulation material during the renovation of the facade, the most beautiful part follows: selection of the color of the final layer, i.e. the facade. In addition to being beautiful, this is also an important task, so we advise you to devote time to it. When it comes to shade, it”s important to consider the size of your home as well as its surroundings. Here are some tips on choosing a shade for facades. Neutral colors are a safe choice! If you are not sure which shade will best suit your home, you won”t go wrong with neutral shades. Different shades of yellow, brown or gray fit perfectly with any environment, as well as with woodwork. Unlike white, neutral colors won”t show as much dirt and dust that accumulates over the years.

How long does it take to restore the facade?

Depending on the condition and, above all, the surface of the facade, you should plan more or less time for the renovation. If it”s a smaller area and you”re just painting it, you can do it in an hour or two. However, if you clean them with a pressure washer, remove loose plaster, pre-paint, repair and repaint, then it can take all day.
